Sunday Ride: The Rides Are On!!!

So our first ride of the year I was stood up by everyone…I understand it was cold but it warmed up later and you missed a great day to explore some new roads!! I was roaring and ready to show off the Multistrada’s Enduro Mode to all, but we have to do  compressed version of this ride again the first weekend of April as we will be taking off to do the 1st Track Day of the year later that day and won’t have tons of time to play like in March.
Make sure and be there as we will have tons of fun this year…we’re going to kick it off right and brave more weather conditions this year to ensure we get as much ride time in as possible. All of our Thursday Night Rider’s nights were cancelled last year due to weather and many of the Sunday Rides were rained out… Keep smiling and we will have a fantastic year in 2017!

Sunday Rides will be cut-off after Oct. 31st, except the occasional Adventure Ride keep posted with when they are going down with Facebook and Nate’s News!!
Nate’s Bike Review: 2017 Ducati SuperSport/S, Multistrada, Monster 797, Monster 1200S, Desert Sled & Café Race
Since there are soo many units to give feedback on I will just give short highlights of each of the bikes and a quick video so you can see the machines in person!!
SuperSport/S: The SuperSport/S was the first machine that I rode and was the impressive model I experienced with in Sardinia. The 937 motor put the power right where it should be and the comfortable ergonomics made it a blast to ride on or commute with. It has touring features like a sport touring, i.e. adjustable screen, optional tall smoke screen, optional heated grips, optional panniers, and riser bars and sport features like a super sport, i.e. Ducati Quick Shift up and down on S, 48 degrees of lean angle, optional Akrapovic silencers, single sided swing arm and Ride modes/Safety Packages. This combination started a new genre for the motorcycle industry which is going to take off as a more universal sport motorcycle “Sport-Road”!!! When you look at a machine with sexy Daytime Running Lights, beautiful Italian lines, Single-Sided Swingarm, Gold Ohlins suspension and a visible Quick Shifter it screams Sport, but when you ride the machine and it screams Comfort, you know you’ve found the perfect combination the first time you twist the throttle and feel how well rounded the power-plant is.  Don’t be scared to put this one in your garage as a supplement to your arsenal or jump on for your first motorcycle with the safety packages and the ride modes let us transform from a 113 animal to a 75 bhp anyone pleaser!!!
Multistrada 950: The Multistrada 950 was super impressive and I think with the drop in cost and the widening of its spectrum from an Adventure Sport motorcycle to a “Travel” or mote Adventure Touring model in my opinion, we will have major growth with Multi sales. Ducati moved the front Axle forward to make for a more stable and comfortable ride and you couldn’t even tell you had a 19″ wheel up front when we got into the tight twisties. The 950 is the first Multi I’ve ridden that I really felt in tune with the front end and like I had great communication. Also, we have my new favorite motor from Ducati crammed in there..the 937…which gives you shutter free power all through the rev range and especially on the bottom end.  Like most Multi’s though you really won’t need more than 4 gears to run around unless you are in Ludacris Speed, hahaha, as the machine felt comfortable and in its sweet spot runnin’ 4-5,000 RPM at your average cruise speeds around our 419,581, 311 type roads.  Fun fact about the 950, first is has a larger carrying capacity than the 1200 Enduro model does, WHAT!!!  That’s right guys.  Just don’t take these puppies too deep in the water and submerge the front cylinder, which is one advantage the BMW R1200GS has, which is what this model was meant to compete against……LOVE THIS BIKE.
Monster 797:  Well this was a great surprise, with the super appealing price point and the attitude and sex appeal of a Ducati motorcycle.  My true opinion of this 75 hp motorcycle is that it’s a great secondary ripper, but primarily a superb first motorcycle.  We are really looking at a Ducati Scrambler with a sexier frame and tank as it shares the engine and feels like the suspension has just a much lack of communication as every Scrambler I’ve ridden.  The brakes are a little weak but we are looking at coming from a very athletic side and going down in product.  If you start with a machine of this caliber, then you are already way ahead of the game.  This is Ducati going back to its roots in my opinion and getting an easy to ride, low cost of ownership, and sexy looking motorcycle back within grasps of the younger demographics and newbie riders!!!

models ridden that weekend, and, the infamous Triumph Triple line which flows more effortlessly.  Some changes to the motorcycle besides what was stated above were a 15 degree change in display angle to prevent light interference, a new black or white background for higher visibility on the new screen, and our BIG change is the addition of Bosch ABS 9 Plus for Cornering ABS.  The biggest change that I liked was just the aesthetic change of a new Liquid Grey color that really bring the machine to life and accents the other components so nicely.

wrong, it’s going to be a great machine for the right customer but was specifically designed for the Desert rider in Southern California, we love the style and that alone will sell this motorcycle and allow us to outfit with more appropriate tires than the new Pirelli they have installed from the factory. The big deal on the Desert Sled was this is the first machine they put a truly reinforced frame on so they could take the off-road abuse. Expect more dirt orientated models from them in the future.

Café Racer: This machine took me by surprise, first we weren’t told we were going to be riding this motorcycle, and then we were able to experience it on some amazing roads that brought this throw- back to Bruno Spaggiari to life!!!  At first glance you fall in love with the café racer style and black on gold highlight, sticky Pirelli Rosso II tires

tires teasing you, and the 54 number plate screaming at you to take me out and ride me hard…then you throw a leg over the machine and putt around the low speed areas feeling a floppy front end that didn’t impress me at all….but once we got the group up to speed and really tackled the tight twisties and long, fast sweepers the machine woke up and became very compliant and ambitious to go faster, and faster, and faster.  The brakes were upgraded to a Brembo radial mount master cylinder for improved feel and it was apparent the first time you squeezed the brake lever.
