Sunday Ride: Sunday Adventure Ride:
We had another great Sunday Adventure Ride with a scenic 115 mile route that we did earlier this year with different attendees. This time we had Scott Poe on his F800GS, Alan came out for his first Adv. Ride with us on his newly acquired R1200GS and good ‘ol Dave Conley showed up on his DR650. Gotta give a shout out to Dave Conley for being the only person who could keep up with my busy schedule this past weekend. He completed the Trifecta with the Sat. Teach McNeil stunt show, the Sunday Adventure Ride and then the Monday Keith Code California Superbike School…Dave, you are the man!!!
We started out ripping up Sugar Loaf and down Mt. Chestnut Rd. on the way to Bent Mountain to get our guys warmed up, and to allow some of the street riders who showed up to ride with us before we hit pavement. As we topped the scenic Bent Mountain we dropped off to the right to hit Poor Mountain and start our ascent up the dirt to the towers where we would be able to experience an incredible view on this sunny morning and take a quick break for a group pic. Then we creeped down the back with turkeys passing our path on the backside giving us extra scenery and obstacles. The road is gated at the end and was a great place to stop and assess our ride so far, talk about the future and enjoy a drink and a smoke!!
We headed down the backside of the mountain and ended up on 460 after a leisurely cruise next to the creek that provided a cool, relaxing experience. Once on 460 we headed towards Shawsville to hit up Allegheny Springs once we hit that stretch of smooth pavement we got to cruise next to another amazing trout stream that lead up to our pop-off for Fisher’s View. We practiced some flat track on the entrance where there was smooth gravel and dirt, then our slow speed turning exercise started as we headed up the top of the mountain..back and forth, back and forth, and more back and forth. As we encountered more asphalt we also encountered a flat rear tire on the GS, but luckily he had his handy dandy tire repair kit from Frontline Eurosports and we zipped up to the Pilot Mountain Grocery and repaired the tire and filled it with air, as we refueled our machine and souls for more dirt on Brush Creek Rd. That took us by the Buffalo Farm that I like to check out when in the area, which was empty at that time, and down to Thunderstruck where we got some cool pics before popping onto Rte 8 for a short zip up to Floyd for some lunch at the Blue Ridge Café……Oh my God that was a spectacular lunch with great customer service. We were running out of time and had to run down 221 to get home within our allotted time to get customers together at the shop to depart for the track day. Always good times and don’t forget that are planning another Overnight Sunday Adventure Ride Sept. 30th – Oct. 1st 2017!!

Sunday Rides will be cut-off after Oct. 31st, except the occasional Adventure Ride keep posted with when they are going down with Facebook and Nate’s News!!

Nate’s Bike Review:2017 Motus
The Motus review is finally here, I finally got the Motus out to run it through it’s paces after it’s been broken in so I could feel the difference between a brand new one and a slightly used one. It did cure a few of the issues that I had with the machine when it was new…firstly, the smootheness of the transmission which was an issue that I had on the new MST and MSTR. Way better with mileage on it and we also cured the long throw feel of the transmission shift pedal. I adjusted the “adjustable” shift pedal. I spent even more time adjusting the Heli “adjustable” handlebars, found the trick to easy windscreen adjustments while on the road, and became more familiar with the options that were available to me.
Which brings me to the way I am going to describe this machine to customers from now on. This is a wild bucking bronco that you have to tame and cater to your needs with a partciular bridle or saddle, maybe adjust the reigns and she will become the machine you want it to be.
The seat is comfortable, the panniers are accomodating, the wind protection seemed better now that I had made some adjustments to the screen and to the style of helmet I was wearing (as well as gear). Power….well there is plenty of power to rip you from one curve to the next or launch you down those straight aways where I can now attest she does have good stability all the way up to around 147. If you find the essence of this motorcycle
which is that it excels as a sport touring to get you to the destination and still is no slouch once you put her in the twisties you went seeking out on your new MST. Which is exactly what we did on the Back of the Dragon trip I road tested this motorcycle on, 300 miles of a combination of interstate, straight back roads, sweeping country roads, and tight twisties with a hint of urban riding. I found the Sargent saddle very comfortable for the straight long routes that we encountered, but it was a little narrow only because I have such short arms that I can’t get deep into the saddle where I would be able to experience the maximum comfort. The suspension did superb in that terrain as well, the straight and sweeping country roads as well as interstate, but didn’t do me any favors in the tight twisties. She was oversprung and I didn’t mess with any suspension setting for pre-load which might have helped cure the problem. The Ohlins being so tight gave me a little confidence on the brakes which I needed oh so badly with such a strong torquey motor launching me super fast into each corner. The sound of this amazing V4 is music to the ears of all the spectators we passed and the heat didn’t bother me until we had long periods of stagnant time in the urban environment.
Overall I went from being a non-believer to a believer of the Motus line of motorcycles. I truly believe it was much more than the motorcycle that did it for me though. It was the time spent with the President, Lee Conn, and his head technician that came to work out Motus demo day and learning who they were and why they decided to do what they did. They wanted to offer a power house of a motorcycle that is comfortable to ride and has MADE IN AMERICA on it, actually, Made in Alabama, but you know what I mean. It was the desire to fill a segment of motorcycles missing in this world, and specifically this country, as you can go to Japan and drive a Skyline and then jump on a Fireblade, go to Italy and drive a Ferrari then go ride a Ducati, Germany you can drive a Porsche and then ride a BMW S1000RR. Come to America and drive a Corvette and ride what…a Harley..HAHAHA where the powerhouse with an attitude and styling to match….in come Motus.

Track Days: California Superbike School Report
What a great time at the Keith Code CSS. We had a group of 11 pilots from Frontline Eurosports, plus, we encountered friends from all over the east coast that we already knew from previous events or track days like my boy JPrann from Chattanooga TN, Craig I knew from N8! Kern track days, and friends from Charlotte BMW. I can’t give away a lot of the great info we learned from Dylan Code and his other coaches that opened up doors in our mind we didn’t know we could even unlock. Come experience it with us next time so you can progress to level 2 with us and gain even more powerful knowledge. Shout out to my Coach Connor Duffy who had a very keen eye andcalm, professional way of translating what he wanted me to do to me.
